Dr. Susan Brown, PhD, is a medical anthropologist, noted researcher, a New York State Certified Nutritionist, and the author of the best-selling book The Acid Alkaline Food Guide (translated into 7 languages).
Dr. Brown has devoted her 40+ year career to exploring promising nutritional and lifestyle pH therapies, educating the public as well as working one-on-one with clients from around the world through the Center for Better Bones . In her decades of experience, she has authored more than 1,000 articles and produced hundreds of videos on pH balance, the alkaline diet and natural bone health.
Dr. Brown pioneered the natural approach to bone health for over 30 years. She was the first to prove that using only natural methods, nearly every woman can build strong bones for life. Incorporating her research and the latest science, her six-point natural program including the alkaline diet, exercise, digestion, detoxification, and the 20 key bone building nutrients has helped tens of thousands of women take control of their health and enjoy long, active, happy lives.
Currently, she conducts consultations at the Center for Better Bones in East Syracuse, New York, and via telephone with patients worldwide.

Jean Marie Russo - CEO
Jean Marie is a graduate of Syracuse University with a background in Retail Management, Consumer Studies and Marketing. Jean Marie has worked side by side with Dr. Susan Brown for over 10 years and helped to develop her product lines and education offerings.
Heather Falise - Dietitian & Lead Researcher
Heather is a registered dietitian and is currently pursuing her master's degree in nutritional sciences at Cornell University. She grew up in the Syracuse area and attended Syracuse University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in dietetics. Heather is passionate about health and wellness, and loves to work out in her spare time!
Alyssa Levengood - Creative Director
Alyssa has been working with Alkaline for Life since 2017. She grew up in a small town on the outskirts of Syracuse and then attended Syracuse University to study Public Health. When she began working for Alkaline for Life as an intern, she quickly developed a love for design and marketing. After graduating and completing her internship, she grew into the role of building and creating the visuals you see as part of the Alkaline for Life brand today—product design, packaging design, video editing, and marketing & social media content creation. Her goal is to create impactful designs and content that inspire and motivate people to become the best and healthiest versions of themselves.
Mary Jo Boya - Content & Client Coordinator
Mary Jo Boya has worked with Dr. Susan Brown for 15 years. She grew up in Syracuse, NY, and graduated from the Syracuse University School for Human Development. She has always been interested in healthy diets and in 2001 took a personal interest in alternative, natural treatments to recover from disease and to stay healthy. She has lived in Washington, DC, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. She has traveled extensively and now works remotely from Bologna, Italy.
Gina Galli - Client Services Manager
Gina is the youngest of six and grew up in Liverpool, NY. She attended Buffalo State College and graduated with a Broadcast Communication Degree. Gina is a registered Yoga teacher, co-creator of the Better Bones Exercise Evolution Channel, and is working towards becoming a certified health coach.
Jess Steele - Brand Manager
Jess also grew up a suburb of Syracuse, graduating with a degree in public relations and a minor in nutrition from Syracuse University. Growing up with several autoimmune diseases, Jess has always been passionate about tackling her illnesses holistically - it's always been a dream of hers to be part of a company that supports its employees' overall health and wellbeing.
Cameron Vazquez - Research Coordinator
Cameron is a Syracuse University graduate student working towards her master's degree in public health. Cameron also went to Syracuse University as an undergraduate where she earned her Bachelor of Science in public health with a minor in Spanish. Cameron joined the Alkaline for Life team as an intern during her senior year of college and now works as a research assistant.
Alyssa Hopkinson - Office Coordinator
Alyssa Hopkinson was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. She is the office coordinator for Alkaline for Life as well as our own personal photographer! She went to school for psychology and journalism downstate and loves traveling, learning wellness practices, and studying happiness! She loves to work with a team that has the same drive and passion to help people be their best selves and achieve their health goals, naturally!
